Lim Hee-jo was born in Seoul in 1988 and obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in Western Painting from Dongguk University in Seoul. After graduating, she participated in numerous group exhibitions and contests and is working as a full-time artist. In addition to participating in Asiaf 4 times from 2009 to 2015, she held a solo exhibition under the title “Clumsy Happiness” at the Changseong-dong Laboratory Gallery in 2021 as a major exhibition.

The artist is interested in interpreting and expressing the object he wants to draw in a formative way based on the basic figure, and draws it in a simple yet pictorial way.. Then, the components of the selected object are made into a round or wriggling mass with free curves and placed in an unfamiliar situation. In the painting expressed through the artist's interpreted perspective, not only a geometrical object, but also a brush touch with the simple yet bold color of the Red Sole Crew is revealed. This expression interprets the symbolic element as a simple format even when drawing something familiar to convey meaning due to the character's expression or inherent symbol, leaving only the artist's subjective traces on the canvas.

The artist, who says that whenever he does something, the question “why?” follows him, he tries to be faithful to the present situation rather than pursuing or preparing for a fixed answer. She aim for a life that enjoys the happiness we can feel now rather than the uncertain happiness that will come in the future. Rather than enduring and enduring the sacrifices of the present to prepare for the future, life is more satisfying in the present and living steadily day by day. This happiness is small and clumsy. Eat well, sleep well, laugh well, and enjoy imagining, fluttering, and drawing on the basis of basic needs. The artist believes that such a happy and exciting painting will eventually affect the viewer. It is inevitably difficult to find happiness because it is different from the standard of happiness that other people pursue, and because you yourself do not know what true happiness is. I believe that enjoying such an awkward situation is the behavior an artist should have

임희조는 1988년 서울에서 태어나, 서울 동국대학교에서 서양화전공으로 학사와 석사학위를 취득했다. 졸업 후 다수의 그룹전과 공모전에 참여하였고 전업작가로 활동하고 있다. 2009년부터 2015년까지 4회의 아시아프 참가를 비롯, 주요 전시로는 2021년 창성동 실험실 갤러리에서 “서툰 행복”이라는 제목으로 개인전을 열었다.

작가는 그리고자 하는 대상을 기본 도형에 입각해서 조형적으로 해석해 내고 표현하는 데에 관심이 있고, 또 그것을 심플하면서도 회화적으로 그려낸다. 그리고 선택한 대상의 구성요소를 자유로운 곡선으로 둥글거나 꿈틀거리는 덩어리로 만들고 낯선 상황으로 배치한다. 작가의 해석된 시각으로 나타낸 그림에는 도형적인 형태의 대상뿐 아니라 빨주노초파의 단순하면서도 과감한 색으로 얹어진 붓 터치가 드러난다. 이러한 표현은 인물의 표정이나 내재된 상징으로 인해 의미 전달이 익숙한 것을 그릴 때도 상징 요소를 단순한 조형으로 해석하여 화폭 위에 작가의 주관적인 흔적들만 남기게 한다.

무언가를 할 때마다 “왜?”라는 질문이 뒤따른다고 하는 작가는 정해진 답을 쫓거나 준비하기 보다 그저 현재에 놓인 상황에 충실하려 한다. 미래에 올 불확실한 행복보다 지금 느낄 수 있는 행복을 누리는 삶을 지향한다. 지금의 희생을 견디고 참아내어 미래를 준비하는 것보다 현재에 만족하고 하루하루 착실하게 살아가는 삶. 이런 행복은 소소하고 어설프다. 잘 먹고, 잘 자고, 잘 웃는, 기본적인 욕구를 토대로 즐겁게 상상하고 설레며 그림에 그려낸다. 작가는 이렇게 행복해하고 신나게 그린 그림이 결국에는 보는 사람에게도 영향을 줄 것이라 생각한다. 다른 사람들이 추구하는 기준의 행복과 다르고 또 스스로도 진정한 행복이 무엇인지 모르기에 찾아가는 행복은 서툴 수밖에 없다. 그런 서툶을 즐기는 것이 작가가 지녀야 할 행동이라 믿는다.
